Ask.com Revamps Search Algorithm Again *Yawn*
Poor Ask.com is like the guy in the back of the office who works really hard but just gets ignored instead of receiving praise. The Little Search Engine That Could just keeps innovating and improving itself with little or no recognition. That's why news that Ask.com is overhauling the search algorithm once again is not really met with a lot of fanfare. We've heard it before, and before that too. And a few other times from competitors.
It's not that all these changes aren't improving the site. Ask.com really is a useful search engine, and the innovations are great. But nothing so far has made Ask.com rise any higher than fourth place in the Search Engine Race.
Admittedly, that's a hard race to win when you're constantly staring at the back of Google's horse. But so far all the little innovations at Ask.com haven't made it good enough to warrant a switch from other search engines. That's what makes this announcement from Ask.com so boring. We're expecting more of the same.
Now things would be better if they would bring back Jeeves. That guy knew how to search.
