Not All Venues are Created Equal: A Rundown on the Best Ticket Prices

Tickets to most sporting events at big name venues cost a lot more than the average person wants to spend when going to a game. It’s an entirely different experience to smell the sweat and blood from the stands as opposed to watching the game from the relative comfort of your couch. But even if you have high-definition TV, there really isn’t any comparison. The experience of going to the game is just so much more exciting.

The prices for tickets to most big games can throw people off, but it’s a little-known fact that attending events where the biggest names in sports are playing is not only possible, but you can also get a fairly good deal on tickets. Here are a few of the best places to find inexpensive tickets to a few of the not-so-cheap venues.

Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, Massachusetts. Watching the Patriots play any time is a good game, even with Brady gone. They’ve been one of the top teams in the league, but going to a game still won’t break your wallet. Although many of the games are mostly sold out, with Brady gone now, tickets are sure to be available for much of the season. Tickets up high are $97, but the lower tickets, closer to the field run $128-170. And tickets on the opposing team's side are cheaper.

Lambeau Stadium, home of the Green Bay Packers. On its website, this stadium boasts that it is the “Crown Jewel of the National Football League.” Prices for tickets start at $70 and go up to $300.

Monster Park, home of the SanFrancisco 49ers. The prices at this stadium for close-to-the-field seats are as low as most in the business. In the Lower Box, near the field, prices start at $121 and are as low as $50 for the upper bowl. There are many seats available, so you’re sure to find something in your price range.

Dolphin Stadium, Miami, Florida. Although the Dolphins haven’t won many games in recent history, tickets are still pricey. Close to the field tickets are around $700 with prices going all the way down to $54 for seats that are higher up.

Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers. In the top of the stadium, tickets are $34 and single digit row numbers can be found for as low as $219.

FleetCenter, home of the Boston Celtics. Last year’s NBA champions are not as out of reach as you may think. Courtside seating is pricey, as usual, starting at $330 and going up to $3,000. But the nosebleeds are only $10 and make it possible to take the whole family.

United Center, Chicago, Illinois. Although the Bulls have not been a force to be reckoned with since Michael Jordan left, tickets are still difficult to come by for home games in Chicago. The way-up-there seats start at $50 while the seats closer to the court are more towards the $500 range.

Madison Square Garden, in New York City, calls itself “The world’s most famous arena.” If you want to go see the Knicks play, tickets start at the $300 range for courtside and again has tickets for only $10 for up top.

Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox. To go see this Boston team play, plan on spending around $100 for bleacher seats.

Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri. Tickets to go see the Cardinals play can be found for as low as $4 for bleachers seats and barely bump $100 for seats close to the dugout and fields.
