When you realize that TicketsNow is affiliated with Ticketmaster, our #1 online ticket company, it’s not hard to see why TicketsNow earned the “TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award.” It’s modeled on the same type of service and interface that makes Ticketmaster so successful.
You may be wondering what the difference is between Ticketmaster and TicketsNow if they are so closely affiliated. The simplest answer is that Ticketmaster works primarily in the primary ticket market, having access to event tickets at face value, while TicketsNow deals more in the secondary market, with resellers and ordinary patrons. But even that explanation is a little too simple since there is plenty of overlap. And really, the difference isn’t important to the average consumer because ultimately, both companies do an excellent job of selling tickets quickly and easily.
TicketsNow has a wide selection of sports tickets available. In fact, there are tickets for any sports preference because the list of sports is quite extensive. Besides the common leagues, like NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and NCAA, you can also find tickets for soccer, boxing, rodeo, motocross, tennis, golf and many more.
TicketsNow also has a simple search feature that is quite useful; you can search by team, sport, venue or city in order to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. The main site displays all the most popular events coming up, so you’re likely to find what you want without even needing to perform a search.
While the TicketsNow site certainly is helpful, there are a few reasons why it didn’t rank higher in our review. The most obvious reason is that TicketsNow doesn’t allow you to print tickets yourself. This isn’t unusual since most sites don’t have this option either. The top 2 sites in our review have this incredibly convenient option, which comes out cheaper than shipping. TicketsNow also doesn’t have the option to auction your tickets. Overall, these aren’t enormous problems, but they were enough to keep TicketsNow from reaching the top spot.
The pricing on TicketsNow is a little bit higher than average, but it isn't outrageously expensive either. When you buy tickets on the site, you can expect to pay a service charge that amounts to 15% of the ticket price. While that percentage isn’t a whole lot higher than other company’s service charge rates, the difference can still be substantial when ticket prices run in to the hundreds and even thousands, depending upon your budget.
You’ll also be charged a fee to have the tickets shipped to you. Shipping costs $14.95. TicketsNow also offers you the option to sell your own tickets on their site. You set the ticket price when you put them up for sale and, once they are sold, TicketsNow subtracts a selling fee from the sale before passing the balance on to you. Just like the service charge, you can expect to the selling fee to be 15% of the asking price for the tickets.
TicketsNow has a wide variety of features that make it better than most other ticket sites. As we mentioned above, the search feature is one that really makes the site better. It allows you to search by any subject, including team, city, venue, sport and so forth. Many other sites make you go through lists of teams or cities to find what you want. A solid search feature like this saves time and effort, and who doesn’t like that?
Another appealing search feature comes later, when you’ve already selected your event and you’re trying to pick the best tickets out of the bunch. TicketsNow has features that allow you to narrow you search by the exact price range you want to maintain. Or if you are more concerned with the location of the seats, you can easily perform a search based on the area within the stadium where you would like to sit. This accommodates any need whether it is related to budget or better view.
TicketsNow is also useful as a place to sell your tickets. If you have tickets that you won’t be able to use, you can put them up for sale on the site where other TicketsNow users can buy them. As we mentioned above, when somebody purchases your tickets, TicketsNow will deduct a selling fee from the selling price, which is still much better than letting the tickets go to waste. TicketsNow is also notable because it lets you change the price of your tickets after you have posted them. Most other sites don’t allow price changes once the tickets are posted. And if you know someone who likes to attend sports games, you can even purchase a TicketsNow gift card for them, which may cover or can be used against the purchase price of tickets they choose on the site.
TicketsNow does a good job of making ticket buying easy; as we mentioned above, the search functions make it much faster to find what you’re looking for. That being said, the TicketsNow website does look a little more cluttered than its counterpart, Ticketmaster. The listings on the main pages look crowded and are a little distracting too. Also, it’s difficult to narrow the ticket menus by sport if you aren’t interested in finding tickets for games played by the major sports leagues like NFL and MLB.
We really like TicketsNow's tech support for one reason: they offer support through live chat. This is truly convenient because it means you don’t have to make a phone call or wait to hear back on an email. The live chat makes it possible to get answers fast, and we really wish that other sites would offer this feature.
If you aren’t enamored by chat features, you can still contact TicketsNow through phone and email. And the company FAQ is pretty thorough, so you may be able to find your answers there without the need to consult anyone personally.
TicketsNow makes it easy to find the tickets that you want at the right price. And it’s also a great place to sell your tickets because so many people use the site. No matter what tickets you need, TicketsNow will be able to help you.
